1 Nephi 8:10 — LeGrand Baker — An Invitation

1 Nephi 8:10

10 And it came to pass that I beheld a tree, whose fruit was desirable to make one happy.

Alma also talked about the tree. He invites us to find it so we may eat and drink “freely.”

34Yea, he saith: Come unto me and ye shall partake of the fruit of the tree of life; yea, ye shall eat and drink of the bread and the waters of life freely (Alma 5:34, similar ideas are in Revelation 2:7, 22:2, 14).

62 I speak by way of command unto you that belong to the church; and unto those who do not belong to the church I speak by way of invitation, saying: Come and be baptized unto repentance, that ye also may be partakers of the fruit of the tree of life (Alma 5:62).

If a prophet offers that kind of invitation, then its fulfillment must surely be within the reach of all those to whom it is given.
